Cowley Log Gym

The town of Cowley, Wyo., received $991,960 in Wyoming Business Council Community Facilities grant funds in April 2012 to help renovate and restore the town's 7,778 square-foot log gymnasium built in Norwegian log structure style. The historic facility otherwise faced demolition.

Original construction started in 1934 and finished in 1936. It now serves as the Log Gym Recreation Center for the community of approximately 700 people. Family memberships are $200 per year. The building is also used for weddings and other social events.

Sherman Watkins was kind enough to provide historic photos of the log gym when it was originally under construction.
